Start Planning Your Spring Wedding!

spring-wedding-at-the-franciscan event centerSpring is a gorgeous time to get married, especially if you’re lucky enough to live in Colorado. The weather is warmer, the flowers are blooming, and it’s the renewal of life the world over. With temperatures averaging 60 degrees in April and sunny days more often than not, you’re likely to get a perfect spring day for your wedding! Of course, there’s always the risk of a rainy day, blast of cold air, or sudden heat wave (isn’t spring fun?) but none of that will ruin your big day if you book at The Franciscan. With both indoor and outdoor venues, we’ll make sure that getting hitched goes off without a hitch. Below are ten fun ideas and tips to make your spring wedding one to remember!

.) Have rain boots ready for the entire wedding party. In case of rain, you’re covered, or at least your feet are. Even if there isn’t rain, a rainbow array of colors for the wedding party are sure to make some of the cutest wedding photos!

.) Use flowers everywhere! The first daffodils and daisies pushing through herald spring, but don’t feel limited in your choices. Fresh bouquets everywhere reflect the youth and renewal of the season. Flower wreaths, flowers accents on dresses, flower boutineers…flowers should be anywhere and everywhere for your wedding.

.) Plan an outdoor garden wedding! Since there will be flowers everywhere, make things easier on yourself by choosing a location in our near a flower garden. Hang tiny tea lights with ribbon to give the setting an ethereal look.

.) Still looking for an appropriately themed appetizer? Use eggs! There’s a million different ways to present them, and people associate eggs with spring. Try deviled eggs for a colorful pop on the appetizer table.

.) Have a signature cocktail that incorporates the spring theme, like this Pink Pomegranate Pear Dazzler. Signature cocktails are a fun way to make your wedding stand out and save on open bar costs. This cocktail even uses flower petals as a garnish!

.) Give a live plant as a party favor, such as a marigold or a tulip. It’s a fun way for the guests to be reminded of your wedding long after it’s over, and it incorporates the spring flower theme!

.) For your dinner side, go with what’s in season with just a simple grilled asparagus spears recipe. People will love the return of the fresh vegetable and your wedding will announce the start of the grilling season.

.) Have fun with the hemlines on your dresses! Spring means warmer weather, so go ahead and get some tea length dresses for your bridesmaids. Or for yourself!

.) Choose a wedding hairstyle that works with your natural style: humidity is not the time to be trying something elaborate. And stock up on anti frizz spray! Check out some other humid day hair tips here.

.) Keeping in line with the season, have fresh strawberries and a chocolate fondue for your dessert. Just make sure you don’t get any on your wedding dress!

.) Consider a brunch wedding – who doesn’t love brunch food and mimosas?
