Choosing the right wedding venue can often be a daunting task. With so many different wedding venues to choose from and so many options available, we hope to give you some advice on what to look out for. Before starting the search for a wedding venue, first try and consider what you really want and what is most important to you.
Is Location Important?
Maybe you want to be near Denver, but not in the city. Maybe you want to be close to the mountains. A great way to find venues near the location you are looking for is to use the search feature on The Knot. Check out our profile and look on the sidebar to find venues in other areas.
Indoor or Outdoor?
Would you prefer your wedding to be inside or outside? Some venues offer one or the other while others can provide both. When planning a wedding a year in advance it is impossible to predict the weather so it’s nice to have options. If you have your wedding outside, it’s worth renting a tent just in case of inclement weather. At The Franciscan Event Center, we give you both our outdoor facilities and our indoor facilities at the same price. Since we only rent to one event per day, our weddings can utilize either space depending on weather.
Do You Want a Religious Ceremony?
Many brides and grooms prefer a religious ceremony usually opting to have the wedding at a church or other place of worship. After the ceremony, the reception is usually held somewhere else. If you and your fiancé have different religious beliefs, sometimes it works best to have the ceremony at a neutral location like a reception hall or event center. In this case your guests do not have to move to a new location, which is an added advantage. At The Franciscan we host religious ceremonies quite often.
Is There Catering Available?
Most couples choose to hire a caterer for their wedding receptions. If you hold a wedding at a venue without catering you usually are responsible for organizing the service. In some instances the venue has a catering service onsite, which can be incredibly convenient for logistical and planning purposes.
